How 'Movie 43' landed all those A-list stars

If you're anything like us, you saw the trailers for "Movie 43" and immediately took notice of how many major stars were cast to do ridiculous things

From Halle Berry to Emma Stone to Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman, the comedy has an ensemble cast to rival all of those movies about holidays.
So when we caught up with producer Peter Farrelly at "Movie 43's" premiere on Wednesday, we had to ask how they handled casting.
"It was a very hard movie to make, because we only had a budget of $6 million," said Farrelly, who also serves as a director on the project along with Elizabeth Banks, Brett Ratner and nine others.
They wanted it to be a series of interconnected comedy shorts, "and we wanted to use big talent who doesn't usually do this kind of movie: Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry," Farrelly went on.
"What we did was, we literally would shoot for three days - do a short - and then we'd shut down for four months," he explained. "And then we'd wait until they were available [and] go to them wherever they were - Australia, Europe, New York, L.A. Go to them, shoot three days, close down for three months."
In all, the movie "took three-and-a-half years to make," he said. "And it's a miracle, we actually did come in under budget."
"Movie 43" opens January 25.
